There are certain areas in the house that I will always be #teamcarpet and the basement is just one of them. For me, carpet can change a space in so many ways just by changing the style or pattern. This is the case when it came to our basement.  When we installed out STAINMASTER® PetProtect® carpet earlier this year, it changed the entire feel of our basement space, simply by adding in a more modern, low pile carpet with a premium 10LB padding. Once we upgraded the carpet, it essentially set in motion a full makeover. Yay!

So while we’ve been living with our STAINMASTER® PetProtect® carpet for about 5 months now, I’ve come up with my 4 reasons why I feel new carpet was the best decision for this space when replacing the old carpet, instead of another flooring material.

1.Comfort and Coziness:

When we pulled up our old carpeting and made the choice to install the STAINMASTER® PetProtect® carpet, it just made the space feel so cozy. Our STAINMASTER® PetProtect® carpet has warmed up our basement space to make it feel more inviting.  It’s so comfortable to walk on, so even though this space is on the lowest level of my home, and faces the wooded area, it still feel bright and comfortable.

 

2) Warmth and Insulation:

I’ve noticed that after having our STAINMASTER® PetProtect® carpet installed in the basement, the space feels more insulated and the temperature feels more regulated. This is the case even though this particular carpet is low pile. I didn’t expect this, so it was definitely a nice surprise. I attribute this to the quality of carpet, along with the quality of padding that we had placed under the carpet.The padding we chose was literally the cherry on top. Padding can make or break how the carpet feels, and we had the 10LB Pad installed. I am so glad we did. It feels like we are walking on pillows, no joke. We are clearly in the hotter season, so I am excited to see the difference in temperature during the Fall and Winter.

3) Noise Level

Our STAINMASTER® PetProtect® carpet has been so helpful in keeping the sounds of this space at a minimum. It gives the sound something to bounce off of, and since my son likes to play in the basement, along with the fact that we run dehumidifiers in the space, keeping the sound a bay is so helpful.

4) Ease of Cleaning:

I love the low pile of this particular STAINMASTER® PetProtect® carpet style because this is an area that has high traffic due to the fact that it leads out to the back yard. Because of this, leaves, and other dirt often track into the space, I can easily sweep, vacuum, or spot clean when needed and its good as new. My dogs also spend a lot of time in this space, andvacuuming their hair has been super easy because the hair does not settle into the carpet fibers.
