Creating a master bathroom oasis can be quite the last and super expensive! Breaking projects down in tasks like these feels less daunting, less of a financial commitment, and more enjoyable. Follow along as I tackle my phase one master bathroom makeover starting with installing QuicTile by Daltile.
Well, I’ve reached the point in my home makeover journey that I want to give my main bedroom and bathroom some much needed attention, insert phase one of my master bathroom makeover. Do you have a space in your home that is not bad, bad, but at the same time, not really good, good either? Well, that’s how my main bathroom felt, just blah. I mean of course I could live with it, but I want each space in my home to give me a certain feeling when I enter it. Without having a budget for a full gut job, because uuummm, hello? Bathrooms are sooo pricey! I knew that I that I wanted to tackle my main bathroom in likely three phases to make it the most budget-friendly.
Phase One Master Bathroom Makeover:
Replace Flooring (add something with more style)
Replace Faucets to Gold (I’ve been obsessing over gold hardware recently)
Replace Sinks ( Old ones were leaking)
Phase Two Master Bathroom Makeover:
Remove Large Mirror and replace with two individual mirrors
Paint (walls and vanity)
Update Vanity Light
Phase Three Master Bathroom Makeover:
Replace Toilet
Replace Current Shower Door
The start of Phase One:
Okay, so overlooking everything that’s out of place that I shifted as I started this makeover, but, remember when I mentioned having a space that’s not totally bad, but not all that great?
I started by changing out my sinks and faucets. These Vigo Faucets are a heavy, solid brass color and add a nice upscale touch to the space.
The flooring in my bathroom was a basic 12×12 ceramic tile and laid very plainly. Again, like I said, not bad, but not good. When I found out the simplicity of installation of the Quicktile by Daltile, I was intrigued! Unlike traditional tile installation, there is no demo process, no mortar and no mess. This particular product can be laid directly over your old tile, and can be installed and ready for use in as little as one day. The real porcelain tile floating floor system saves time and money (up to 30% less expensive than traditional floor tile material costs). Plus, the easy 3-step process definitely drew me to give it a try in this space.
I selected the Calacatta Marvel Matte Porcelain Locking Floor Tile, which I absolutely love!
I love all of the variations in tone and color.
Step One: Underlayment
To begin, I started by laying the QuicPrep Universal Underlayment.
It was laid out across my entire floor over the existing bathroom floor.
Installing the underlayment was a simple process. This underlayment is made of an easy cut material, so cutting it to fit in angled spaces was super simple.
Step Two: Tile
After the underlayment is applied, the tile is simply placed on top and locked in place with an easy click and lock in place technology.
Step Three: Grout
After installing all of the tile, the next step is grouting using the Daltile QuicTile Pre-mixed urethane grout in the color Frost.
To grout, the other necessary tools include a grout float, clean sponge, bucket for clean water, and tool to mix the contents of the grout, and my personal favorite, knee pads for use when installing tile and/or grouting. Believe me, your knees will be grateful!
To apply grout, scoop it out of the container using a grout float, and add to tile lines.
Grout should be applied generously, and scrape away any excess with the float. Any excess can be used to apply to other tile lines. Keep going until all tile lines are grouted.
Remove any grout haze of off tile by dipping a clean sponge in water and wiping until clean.
Sit back and enjoy the first completed phase in your bathroom makeover journey!
Now that phase one is done, I can finally give the paint in the space a much needed refresh, especially on the vanity and change out that dated fixture. Excited to be moving on to phase two!

Thank you Jamala!
This looks so great! Did you have to cut the tiles yourself to fit into some spaces, and was that difficult to do?
Thank you. Yes, I showed all steps on my Instagram stories on Saturday.
