It’s week four of the One Room Challenge, and I am happy to say that PROGRESS.HAS.BEEN.MADE! We are halfway through!
I spent the long weekend buying the 1/4 inch plywood for my vertical shiplap installation. If you follow me on Instagram, you see that I took a few hours to cut each strip into 3 inch pieces and sand each piece so that it’s smooth. This weekend was a great time to do it because the weather was mild.
I purchased two of the 1/4 inch sanded plywood 4×8 boards and had the guys at Home Depot cut them in half. They don’t cut boards less than 12 inches, so I couldn’t have my 3 inch strips cut there.
If you want to see how I did it, head to my IG and check out my ORC Spring 2020 Highlight.
When I left off last week, I was almost done installing the wallpaper.
This week I focused on installing the vertical shiplap. It was pretty easy, just tedious. Those 3 inch strips don’t take up much space and therefore take time to fill up the whole wall. But I got it MOSTLY done.
As I mentioned, I got the boards cut in half at Home Depot. The boards were not really straight cut in half so some boards are a little shorter than others. No big deal because I plan to add a ledge across the top to give a more finished look.
I plan to remove the toilet to finish the remaining vertical shiplap installation. We’ve decided replace the toilet as well since we are upgrading the space. I believe the toilet is original to the house, so this space is definitely due for a new one.
I will put together a post on how to install vertical shiplap soon and will provide all of the sources of on my reveal post. I’ve gotten several questions about the wallpaper!
I finished painting the vanity Hale Navy as well, and just ordered a faucet. I am hoping to install the countertop and faucet this coming weekend, along with filling in all of the nail holes in the shiplap and priming.
Let’s see where I am on my to do list:
Remove Old Mirror
Remove Old Countertop
Paint Vanity Hale Navy
Repair wall where mirror was removed
Install Wallpaper halfway around the wall
Install verticalshiplap-almost done!
Prime vertical shiplap
Paint vertical shiplap
Buy New Toilet and Install
Install light fixture
Install sink countertop
Buy Faucet
Install faucet
Install hardware to sink
Find Rug
Install Floating shelving (tbd)

Thanks Gbeke!
It’s been so fun following along on this space !
Thank you!
Wow you cut and sanded ALL that plywood?? That’s impressive! I’m so impatient with those kind of things… Most of all sanding!
yes, I did. I definitely didn’t want to though! Thanks so much!
Cut, sand, install…I’m tired just thinking of it all. But it’s going to be so worth it! Well done.
yes, very tedious, but once it was done, it was so worth it.
