Week three of the Spring 2020 One Room Challenge already! These days are flying by whether I am ready or not. I’ve been working this week though. As the saying goes, it has to get ugly before it gets pretty. That is usually the case with all my projects.
To recap, here is my design plan for the space:
This week, we removed the old vanity countertop and faucet. It was pretty easy to remove. There were just screws along the bottom attaching it to the vanity.
I’ve began installing the wallpaper at just about over half of the wall. As you can see, the bottoms of the wallpaper aren’t a perfect cut because that lower area will be covered with the vertical shiplap. I drew a line around the room to make sure I knew where the shiplap would start so that helped me to make sure I cut the wallpaper at the right place.
I was also was able to get the vanity painted. I used Hale Navy, color matched to Behr paints. I also started repairing the wall where the old mirror was removed so that the wallpaper will lay smoothly. It doesn’t have to be a perfect repair, just enough to apply the wallpaper smoothly.
That’s it for this week. Here is my ongoing list:
Remove Old Mirror
Remove Old Countertop
Paint Vanity Hale Navy
Repair wall where mirror was removed
Repair other necessary areas of the wall
Install Wallpaper halfway around the wall
Install vertical shiplap
Prime vertical shiplap
Paint vertical shiplap
Install light fixture
Install sink countertop
Install faucet
Install hardware to sink
Find Rug
Install Floating shelving (tbd)
Find art and accessories
I think that’s all I have to do. But who knows. As I was keep working I think of other things. This covers the basics though.
