Happy Tuesday friends! Today I wanted to share the before pictures, and design plans for the Make it Home Show House with Invitation Homes taking place on May 15-18 in Kennessaw, GA. First, I wanted to thank everyone that took the time to comment on my announcement post. I appreciate it soooo much. I can’t wait to see this project come to life! If you didn’t check out that post, make sure you do, so that you can read all about Invitation Homes and the Make it Home Show House.
Well, I am happy to say that I am in full swing with planning, and I am happy to share my plans with you today. Lets first take a look at what the space looks like currently.
See! Invitation Homes houses are maintained and updated to provide a blank slate for their next resident to make it their home. This will be the perfect space to watch a colorful kids room unfold.
Now on to the plans…
This room will represent the ultimate kids personality, hence all of the bright, primary colors. I want imagination, joy, and playfulness to be at the forefront to all who see this space. The temporary map wallpaper, will serve as a reminder of how big and diverse the world is, and how the opportunities to see the world are endless. The Kallax shelves will be along the wall across from the bed, and one of the shelves will be used as a bench. I will also add cute and functional storage to the closet, and a nice chest of drawers on the small wall that will be across from the bed.
The stained picture/book ledges that will be between the two Kallax shelves will be a fun and simple DIY, which I will be also showing you how to make your own in my workshop on May 18 at the Show House. You can register to attend that here.
So let me know what you think? Is this a space that you think a kid will love?
I asked my five -year- old son what he thought about the room, and he said it looks awesome. That’s a big enough co-sign for me!
That’s it for now. You can of course follow along with all of the fun and watch the implementation of this design plan over on my Instagram page over the next couple of weeks, so make sure you are following me! While you are at it, don’t forget to click over a check out my interview over on the Invitation Homes blog and in their Instagram Highlight!
Thanks for stopping by! Until next time!
Omg! My son would be all over this room! I can’t wait to see the final reveal!
Oh I love the temporary map wallpaper! Such a fun, yet educational piece to your design! What a great way to teach little ones just how big our world is while brightening up the space. You nailed this perfectly!
I love your design ideas… what kid wouldn’t love all of the color and opportunities to use his/her imagination in such a creative space!! I’m
Super excited to see the finished room!!
These plans are fantastic! My daughter would love to have such a cheerful and bright space! Can’t wait to see how it goes.
Looks like it will be a fabulous room can’t wait to see more.
This looks awesome! I am planning to remodel my daughter’s room for her 2nd birthday. I have some art work that I never used for her baby room. It’s in the colors purple and blue. I was going that direction just so that I won’t waste the wall art but forget it! I love this primary color theme! It’s lively and fun. I want her room to be gender neutral so that she can explore other colors outside of pink and purple. Lol! I can’t wait to see the finish product!
Thank you Hidejah! I love the primary colors. I think your daughter will love this in her space as well.
Hi Erin! I’m so glad I got to see this sweet room in person- it is really fun and imaginative, and I love that it will grow with the child! It was great meeting you and I’m so excited to follow your blog for some major DIY inspiration!
thank you Laura. I really appreciate it. And thanks for stopping by the room and the blog. Have a great day.
