Hey and happy Tuesday. So I’ve been chronicling my DIY journey as it pertains to my dining room makeover that I am currently knee deep into. I showed you my most recent thrifted table makeover, and then I pretty much stalled. But if you follow me on IG, then you know that I am doing a really fun (yet labor intensive) project to enhance the space even more. So I figure, what better time than now to show you my dining space plans and Inspo.
Wall Color: (and this space overall LOVE!
I’ve wanted a white room in my home for a couple of years now. Earlier this year, I painted my son’s room Benjamin Moore Simply White, and I absolutely love it. I’ve wanted to switch up the current paint in the dining room, which is Fashion Gray by Behr, for a while, so now is the perfect time to use this white paint color. I’m soooo excited!
I love this white because it is still warm and not too stark, plus the extra color that I will in the room will keep it warm and vibrant.
Okay, so you already remember the updated thrifted dining table, but I wanted to enhance the actual dining space even more. Since the room is small, I think its so important to maximize the seating to the fullest extent. So I decided that adding a bench to the space was most fitting. A little over a week ago, my husband and I created our very own plans, and started to build our own DIY Banquette. This project has the most excited that I’ve been in a while. We will be placing it along that entire wall under my large scale art piece by Dana Todd Pope. Here is my inspiration.

I am documenting everything and will have a full post on how you can build your own Banquette coming soon.
I’ve never been crazy about my current light fixture and never will! I want to replace this current light with something black and more modern. I’m also thinking of adding a couple of sconces to the wall on both sides of the banquette. We will see about that.
Here are a couple of styles that I’ve been considering… Not these specific ones, but the style. Not sure if I want something round on more lantern in style. I’m still thinking so nothing to show you just yet. Not even an Inspo pic…sorry:(
The thing about it, is that picking a light fixture, rugs, or a curtain are LITERALLY the things I hate the most and that take me the most amount of time. Ugh. I absolutely dread it.
I also want to update my current storage, in favor for something that offers more space, and room for my to style more of my smaller decorative things. I think I have something in mind.
Right now, I have this smaller cabinet that I found on Craigslist a few years back. This picture is from a few years ago and this is my old dining table that you may remember.
I also want to trim out the windows, using my trusty craftsman style tutorials. My goal is to add this trim to any room that I update until I have the whole house done!
Like this window in my kitchen…
I will be keeping the current artwork and rug that I have in place because I like them both, so no changes there. Plus I am firm believer, that things in a room that I still love, there is no need to change them, definitely more interested in making what I have work if I can still work with it. Plus I love my large scale abstract art anyway.
So that about sums it up guys. I would love to hear your thoughts about my plans or if you have any projects you are currently working on. Leave it in the comments below.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
