Hey guys and happy Tuesday! I hinted on IG the other day that I would finally be revealing my sons shared kids work space in my home office. First I wanna give you a background as to why I felt this space was important. My son is 4 years old, just started Pre-K and will soon have homework to complete. He also enjoys being creative, puzzles, coloring, and just being close to me. Whenever I blog, I am usually in my home office, and he enjoys being in there with me. I didn’t want to feel as though I was neglecting him, in order to pursue my passion. To keep him occupied, I wanted to create a space that he loved and still felt like he was with me, is functional, and still flowed with my overall office decor.
I think this shared kids workspace accomplishes that for sure.
Initially, this side of the room looked like this.
I shifted the sofa to the other side room against the window so that I could create this space for him.
I purchased the rolling cart from Michaels. I store his puzzles and extra supplies inside of it.
I purchased the little white glass holders from Goodwill for $0.99 each! When I bought them a couple of years ago I had no idea what they would be used for. They are absolutely perfect for this space. The gold and marble hooks were a find from Bargain Hunt. They were $6.
His little table I also purchased from Bargain Hunt. I believe the set was around $50. It originally a set from Target from the Pillowfort line.
The metal hanging sign and “Be Happy” push board were HomeGoods finds. The push pin board will be perfect for hanging his artwork, assignments, etc. The mirror was already here and thrifted a while back from Goodwill.
The hanging light sign is from TJ Maxx and can be changed to whatever saying you want. Of course “JuJuthekid” is perfect since that is how I reference him through my social networks.
It is battery operated and gives a nice glow in the evening.
The book storage was purchased from HomeGoods and I keep his learning books inside. I like to buy these books from Costco by the way!
This photo gives you an idea of where his space is in respect to mine. Please ignore my “newest” file cabinet from Goodwill. I haven’t had a chance to spray paint it quite yet.
So what do you think? I love it and he loves it too. I hope that it serves him for many years to come!
Thanks so much for stopping by. Until next time.
This is just great, what a wonder idea!
Thank you so much!
I loveeeeee it Erin!! It is so nice, and I love how you personalized it for him! #jujuthekid has a sweet, sweet mommy! You know I have told you that our decor styles are very similar!
Thank you Arie!! Yes they are very similar for sure.
What a precious space for Juju! We have the same desk and chairs for our kids and it's held up really well. I think my favorite part of this little makeover is how you styled using the white glass holders. Great job Erin!
