A big thanks to WallPops! for providing the wallpaper for this makeover. All opinions are 100% my own.
Hey guys and happy Tuesday!!! The day is finally here and I am soooo excited. It’s time for my sons big boy room reveal and I so happy to finally share it with you. As you may remember, I started this project just around 8 months ago. Here was the inspiration board that led the “theme” of his room.
I like to call it the woodsy, imaginative, adventurous room, and it matches his personality perfectly. Whenever I do a room reveal, I like to keep my words short, so let’s get into it.
When picking his room theme, I knew I wanted something that gave the vibe of the outdoors. This Gray Woods NuWallpaper was the perfect starting point. It’s a peel and stick adhesive wallpaper, so it won’t damage the wall if you decide to remove it. And as much as I like to change my mind, this is perfect. It was super easy to install. I will have a future post about how I actually installed this wallpaper.
After adding the wallpaper, I decided to trim the window, using my personal go to DIY craftsman window tutorial. It added more of a finished look to the window since I removed the curtains that were there when his room was a nursery. I also added the metal fox wall decor which is from Hobby Lobby.
The pillows are from various places. The bear pillow is from Target, and the cute deer pillow with glasses I purchased from a vendor at the Pinners Conference last year. The buffalo check bedding from Target’s Pillowfort line. The bed is a very affordable find from Walmart.
His side table is from a store called Bargain Hunt. It’s pretty much a Target clearing house in my opinion. It’s from the Target Threshold line and cost $24 at Bargain Hunt.
So that he can easily access his reading material, I added this rustic style cube bookcase from Target. This easily places all of this books at eye level, and he loves to grab different ones to read. On top of the bookcase are some of his favorite items that he likes to play with.
His gallery wall is an eclectic mix of all of his favorite characters, inspirational art drawings by Chicago Artist, Dana Todd-Pope. The hanging basket in the corner is where his stuffed animals are corralled. I found this basket, which I believe is a planter, at my local Goodwill.
Julius absolutely loves his big boy room! When I finished it, he said “Wow Mommy! Thanks for giving me such a cool room!” Insert all the feels! While I want his room to be cute, it’s more important for me that he truly loves it.
His double bi-fold doors got a quick facelift with some leftover gray paint and new handles.
In front of his bed, next to his dresser, we got his a teepee from Land of Nod. I believe it is now discontinued. I barely found it! I had to call around and the outlet in Chicago was nice enough to ship one out to me.
We opted to keep his blue nursery dresser in his big boy room. We gave it a more mature look by adding a round mirror. The rim was initially gold, but painted black to flow better with the space.
So that’s pretty much it! What do you think? Do you love his big boy room as much and I do? Leave a comment below!
Thanks for following along in this journey to the big boy room reveal! I know it took a while but thanks for hanging in there. If you have any questions about where I purchased anything that I did not mention, let me know.
