I am a firm believer that when I commit to something, I have to get it done! Now when I started this project, I of course did not believe it would have taken me over the 30 day commitment to complete, but I was determined to finish it. I couldn’t have imagined that I would be dealing with having repairs done on my main level, along with completing this room, but that’s life. And today is the today. The room is finished and I am so happy!
I won’t take up this post with too many words. Here is what the office looked like before.
You can read all about my plans here.
After changing the layout around and selling off the old furniture, my office now flows so much better with the rest of my house. I am so happy I decided to keep the same paint color. Working around your current paint color is a great way to save money.
Just warning you now. There may be a bit of picture overload.
My office chair got a little makeover with some white gloss spray paint. The file cabinet got a makeover in Navy blue gloss spray paint.
The stool was a goodwill find. I just covered it with a white faux rug from Ikea.
The desk was originally a brown wood and purchased from Goodwill. It got made over in a mix of paints that I had in my stash.
The tape dispenser was an Amazon purchase and the gold tape dispenser was originally black and got a coat of gold spray paint. The vase was also a Goodwill find. I can’t believe someone got rid of it.
For the gold scissors, I refused to pay $15 for a pair, so I just spray painted the black ones that I had on hand 😉
The shelves are from Ikea and they are the Vittsjo shelves in white.
The gold bookends were brown and got a coat of gold spray paint as well. The deer were purchased from Goodwill.
Lot’s of the items for this room were either thrifted and repurposed, or I pulled out of my stash from other areas of the home. The total for this makeover was just around $275, which I didn’t even spend all at once! I love budget makeovers:)
So thats pretty much it. Please let me know if you have any questions about the items. I talked about a lot of my thrifted items throughout my progress posts here, here, here, and here.
Thanks so much for sticking around! While I didn’t get it done in 30 days, I am just happy to have it done!
I hope everyone had a fantastic long weekend. Until next time!
Erin, it looks fantastic. Doesn't even seem like the old room at all. Great job my friend.
thank you Lauren. The old room just no longer flowed with the house. So glad I have this space now!
Gorgeous! And that total price is great! Where did you purchase the shelving?
Thank you Britney! The shelving is the Ikea Vittsjo Shelving. So Sorry, I guess I forgot to mention that in the post.
Gorgeous! And that total price is great! Where did you purchase the shelving?
This room looks amazing! I love how clean and crip it looks. Great job
Thank you Chari!
It looks great! And what a deal on that sofa, it's perfect! I love how you were able to do so much with just a couple hundred dollars. Gives me hope that one day I can get my butt in gear and make the house look nicer! Ha! :]
Thank you so much Samantha. You can absolutely kick it into gear, lol.
Everything turned out so lovely and I love the little footstool with the fur on top, I know you must be so happy to have your office done!
Thank you Katrina. My little person loves the stool as well. And the rug. And yes, I am so happy its done!
Yay Erin, it came out soooo good! Great choice painting the chair white, and you know my fav is the stool, I think I have the matching chair for it! Beautifully done my friend!
Thank you Carli! The stool is one of my fav's too!
Wow! What a transformation. Well done.
Thank you so much Carol!
Such a beautiful difference, Erin! It's such bright room. Love that you were able to give so many Goodwill finds amazing makeovers!!

Thank you Linda. You know my struggles with this space, so I am super happy to call it done!
Very nice!!! The entire room looks so inviting, and gives you a sense of organization to help the creative juices flow. You did a fantastic job.. and as for the vase.. you're exactly right.. "who would get rid of such a lovely piece" but glad you found it.
Thanks so much Jamala. Can you believe it? Plus, I think I paid around $6 for it which was a steal.
one word – Fabulous!! What software do you use on your MAC to post to blog?
Thanks Tiffany. I just use blogger to post. Hope that answers your question.
This came out so beautiful Erin! My faves have to be that vase, the shelving and the stool with the fur!
Thank you Liah! I think those are my faves too!
I love your new space! Total new vibe for under $300. Can't beat that! Way to go. <3Qs. Where did you get your white shelving system. I love the open look.
Thank you Libby. I always try to stay under $300 with my room makeovers. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but Goodwill was good to me during this makeover process;)
Oh and the white shelves are from Ikea. They are the vittsjo shelves in white.
Wow! It turned out so pretty! Especially love the stool and that case is stunning – can't believe someone threw it out either. It all looks really cohesive & calming now, you've done such a good job. I even thought it was cute before, but the after is a whole other level. 🙂
What a great office Erin! Love your styling and how pretty yet functional it all is. I'm so excited those shelves are from Ikea. I need to implement some major storage in my house this year and those might be perfect!!
