Hey there. So I got a great idea:) Let’s take a quick break from all of the Holiday chat and let’s talk about the future really quickly. Just before I started this post, I was making a list thinking about my plans in the New Year. I know we haven’t even made it through Christmas yet, but I love to think and plan and think and plan and think and plan and the New Year makes me excited for fresh starts! It gives me something to look forward to, even if its months and months away. Especially when it comes to my house. As I am sure you can imagine, there are things that I want to do so badly, but I know that they will take time, so I plan in milestones. Today I want to share my home project wishlist for the next 6 months. Some of the things I will be able to do, and some I won’t which I am sure…but it’s sure nice to dream:)
This is one of the things I am looking forward to the most. Each year I allow myself one major purchase. Last year we got crown molding put around the entire main floor, the year before that, we got our new dark floors, the year before that and the year before that I can’t remember, but you get the point.
This year will be the year of recessed lights!
You see how pretty those lights are? I currently have a big florescent boxed light over my kitchen and to say I hate it is just not strong enough, and it lets off a yellowish light.
Besides aesthetics of course, recessed lighting makes a room feel bigger and brighter, but doesn’t take up any visual space because the lights are up in the ceiling. I just love the look of it!
This is not a project that we will be tackling on our own, as we tend to stay away from big electrical projects. So we will hire out for this.
I would also love to add a light over my sink, under my cabinets, and possibly remove or change out the light over the kitchen table.
Remove Carpet from Stairs
Here are my stairs currently. My home is right around 20 years old, and I am pretty sure that this carpet is original so it has to go. I am picturing something like this…
Add Trim Around Main Floor Windows
I have always loved the look of trimmed windows. It gives the windows and space a more finished look. As you can see, my windows are pretty naked:( This photo was taken at night while a certain someone was hanging out watching tv.
I am in love with how Sawdust Girl layered her molding to create this chunky look.
I also love the look of this simple craftsman style molding that Thrifty Decor Chick did in her home. Although my home is more traditional and not a craftsman style home, I think I can pull this look off and will probably go this route.
Redo Girl Cave
A few years ago, I made over one of my bedrooms into what I called the girl cave.
At that time I loved the room, but now I am just not inspired by it. I want a space that pushes me to be creative and a place that feels more office like and grown up to match the rest of the spaces in my house. So this room will get a complete overhaul. Most of the items have already gotten sold and I am saving that money toward the “new” pieces for the room.
I found this picture online, and this is the look I am going for. This pic stopped me in my tracks!I love everything about this space. Although my room probably won’t be complete 6 months, I will have a good idea as to where it is going.
So what about you? Have you set any upcoming goals for your home?
As always, thanks so much for stopping by. Until next time!
