Morning friends and happy Friday!!! Woo hoo!! This week, I am happy
to announce that I am apart of the Flea Market Swap 3 aka #swapitlikeitshot. To
break it down, I, along with a crew of talented bloggers, select an
item or items between $10 and $15 to send to another blogger, and we
make them into something fun and functional for our home. Sounds like
fun, right?
I received two small brass bowls, several vintage books, a fabric remnant, and an Asian bamboo mat from Rachel over at Shades of Blue Interiors .
I am not super crafty, or craft at all for that matter, so I was initially stumped. However, the bamboo shade/mat stood stood out to me.
After
looking at it for a while, knew that the floral pattern in the center and overall texture
is what drew me most to this item. Imagine my excitement when I realized
that part measured exactly 8×10.
Hitting up my frame stash, I decided to cut and frame the floral portion on a matted 8×10 and it looked so cute!
My vintage books are currently living under my lamp in the family room, with a few new ones, but once the living room makeover is completed, I am sure that they will be living there. I love decorating with books.
I cleaned up my brass bowls using Bar Keepers Friend, and used it to store q-tips in my master bathroom.
Like I mentioned before, I may have other plans for my vintage books, and other brass bowl in my upcoming
living room makeover, however the fabric has me stumped for now:( If you
have any suggestions, please let me know!!
Pop on over to my swap partners, Jessica of Gourley Girl & Guy to see how she re purposed the items that I sent to her!

Love that you framed that! So great!
You've done a phenomenal job incorporating the swap items in your home. Putting that bamboo mat behind glass really makes it pop!
Neat idea to frame the mat!! Looks great!Nancy
The bamboo in the picture frame is SO pretty! And to know bloggers around the nation are giving you a cyber high five for the book styling and brass bowl… I'd kill for either of those! xx Thanks for participating!!
I agree with the others – love the bamboo in the frame! It makes a huge difference.
I love the idea to frame the mat also…so smart! 🙂
I love the way the bamboo mat looks framed! So pretty!
Love what you did with your items! Especially framing the bamboo mat!
Bravo, I love what you did with the items you received, but framing that mat was my favorite. I never would have thought of that… 🙂
Oh wow, I see what you did with the place mat. Very Creative. It goes along with the red you have in your kitchen already.
Hi Erin,What a great item you got in that place mat, now art! It goes to show that you can make beautiful things from thrift store finds. Glad to be on the SWAP with you!
Very nice! Maybe you can frame the fabric as well or layer on a small table. I love decorating with books too! I have them giving a couple of lamps around the house some height.
I love the framed mat! Looks fab!
