Back in January of this year, my family and home had the opportunity to be featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution , which is the only major daily newspaper in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia. We were featured in the home section, with a four-page spread! If you follow me on Instagram, I shared tidbits of the shoot on there. As you can imagine, it was a great opportunity, and so sorry I took so long to share! Check it out below:)

Sometimes you meet people, in this particular case through the web, then later face to face, that you just know you are meant to be friends with. That is how I feel about Katrina Sullivan, who blogs over at Chic Little House.
I swear I found her blog a few years ago and became a low key stalker. Not only of her fabulous style, but I could tell she was such a genuinely sweet person. We started following one another on IG (Instagram) and I was super happy when I got to meet her face to face last year at the Haven Conference here in Atlanta. She traveled from Cali to attend, and was even sweeter than I imagined and as you can tell, very beautiful (both inside and out). She was always very happy, and her smile was contagious.
A couple of years ago, her family experienced tragedy when their home caught fire, however they emerged from it all stronger than ever. Every square inch of her re-build is gorgeous and I am so happy to see them rise above it all!
For those of you who don't know her, or are not familiar with her blog, you have been missing out! Don't worry, you can find out more about her below and after your finish reading, go right away and check out her blog. Plan to spend some time, because you will get lost in all of its charm.
I love to draw, I’ve been drawing buildings and floors since
I was little.
I love teaching myself by getting my hands dirty (building, painting and
teaching myself to sew)
I’m also a left handed, right brain thinker.
Tell us what your blog name means to you, and why you picked
I picked the name on a whim ages ago, because it summed up
how I envisioned life being in our small home, it was little and I could so see it
being chic, so Chic Little House sounded perfect encompassing all things I love about
home and living life.
How long have you been blogging, and why did you start?
I’m been blogging for ages, since 2009!! And to this day I
love, I love writing and sharing.
What has been the most rewarding experience from blogging?
So many! Blogging has brought so many amazing friendships
into my life, it’s amazing to formgenuine
friendships with talented, creative and funny women from all over the country, makes me feel totally spoiled in the friendship
department. I’ve also had the opportunity to be featured in of my favorite magazines HGTV
Magazine, which was such a HUGE moment for me, I totally felt in my element.
What has been your most challenging?
Sharing the story of re-building our house after a house
fire, it was so hard to share the‘nitty gritty’ of what was going on, but after while it felt
very cathartic and healing.Another challenge I’ve faced, is consistency! I love
blogging, but sometimes it’s hard to blog 3-4 days a week to depending on what’s going on, I’m
sure other bloggers can totally relate.
What has been your ABSOLUTE favorite project you completed,
It’s hard to narrow down my favorite project, on a larger
scale designing our kitchen from start finish, deciding on a new layout , picking
materials, lighting where the plugs should go and working closing with contractors, I love all
that, its so amazing to look back on the drawings I did for our kitchen and seeing them
come to life! On a smaller scale, I would have to say our vintage campaign dresser. I
love how its makeover came out, and it was fun to use a new median of paint.
Any networking ideas? How do you like to meet other
Social Media is huge on connecting with other bloggers, I
love Instagram it’s a fun way to talk with bloggers and readers and get inspired. Another
plus is finding other creative that live in your area and doing a meet-up with coffee, I’ve
added so much to my circle of friendship of the year and it’s very rewarding. Last year
I attended a blog conference and got to meet so many bloggers I adore and see them live
and in person, so that’s always fun too.
What is your favorite quote to live by?
Recently I started to adapt a new quite each year to focus
on, these are my top three!
You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you
have – Maya Angelou
Instead of focusing on the world's problems, give your
attention and energy to trust, love, abundance, education and peace – Rhonda Byrne
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and
the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do
great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't
settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it
Many many thanks to Katrina for playing along. I think my son is going to be left-handed so I am happy to see he is in good company:)n And I agree, I absolutely love the vintage campaign dresser makeover. So pretty and functional!!
Morning friends and happy Friday!!! Woo hoo!! This week, I am happy
to announce that I am apart of the Flea Market Swap 3 aka #swapitlikeitshot. To
break it down, I, along with a crew of talented bloggers, select an
item or items between $10 and $15 to send to another blogger, and we
make them into something fun and functional for our home. Sounds like
I received two small brass bowls, several vintage books, a fabric remnant, and an Asian bamboo mat from Rachel over at Shades of Blue Interiors .
I am not super crafty, or craft at all for that matter, so I was initially stumped. However, the bamboo shade/mat stood stood out to me.
looking at it for a while, knew that the floral pattern in the center and overall texture
is what drew me most to this item. Imagine my excitement when I realized
that part measured exactly 8x10.
Hitting up my frame stash, I decided to cut and frame the floral portion on a matted 8x10 and it looked so cute!
My vintage books are currently living under my lamp in the family room, with a few new ones, but once the living room makeover is completed, I am sure that they will be living there. I love decorating with books.
I cleaned up my brass bowls using Bar Keepers Friend, and used it to store q-tips in my master bathroom.
Like I mentioned before, I may have other plans for my vintage books, and other brass bowl in my upcoming
living room makeover, however the fabric has me stumped for now:( If you
have any suggestions, please let me know!!
Pop on over to my swap partners, Jessica of Gourley Girl & Guy to see how she re purposed the items that I sent to her!
enjoyed participating and loved seeing what the other participating
bloggers did this week! If you want to catch up on the past posts from
